Erwin Tan

Trombone

Erwin started playing the trombone from the age of nine and began taking lessons under Pisit Piryaporn when he was eleven. At the age of sixteen, he attained the ATCL (Associate of Trinity College London) Diploma in Music Performance. Currently, he is a Young Artist in the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and is under the tutelage of Zachary Bond.

 

At present, Erwin regularly performs with various ensembles such as the Lion City Brass Band, Orchestra Collective, the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and the YST Trombone Choir. Other ensembles that Erwin has performed with include the Singapore International Festival of Music (SIFOM) Festival Orchestra, the Young Musicians’ Foundation Orchestra and the Philharmonic Orchestra.

 

Erwin has also participated in various local and international music festivals such as the Singapore Low Brass Festivals from 2014 to 2016, the SliderAsia Music Festival 2015 in Hong Kong and the English Brass Academy Summer Festival 2016 in Šibenik. Notably in 2016, Erwin was a finalist in the inaugural Singapore Low Brass Festival Solo Competition.

 

Recently, Erwin graduated from Singapore Polytechnic with a Diploma in Music and Audio Technology. Currently waiting to be enlisted for national service, Erwin enjoys spending his time going on dive trips, and as an avid Chelsea FC fan, watching football and battling it out on FIFA.
